WillowWood Hires New Chief of Technology

Spurred by its recent growth, product expansion and research grants, WillowWood announced that John Robertson has joined the company as its new Chief Technology Officer as of October 22, 2018.

Robertson brings to WillowWood his experience in the development of FDA class 1 and class 3 medical technology devices as well as leadership in engineering and operations. A primary focus of Robertson will be the development of technology-based prosthetic products that demonstrate improved outcomes for patients and clinicians.

“This is a time of great opportunity for WillowWood’s growth and expansion into new product areas. We could not do better than to complement our fast-moving team with John’s skills and personality,” stated Ryan Arbogast, WillowWood’s CEO. “John will fit right in with WillowWood’s commitment to provide clinicians and amputees with products that improve quality of life, and he’ll support efforts in the outcome measurements arena.”

Most recently of Freedom Innovations, Robertson worked as the senior vice president of research development and manufacturing. During his tenure at Freedom Innovations Robertson was active in the development of advanced technology lower extremity prosthetics including the Plié 3 microprocessor controlled knee.

“Since transitioning to the medical industry in 2011, I’ve been fortunate to work on life-changing products,” said Robertson. “Joining WillowWood and extending its experience and expertise from liners, elevated vacuum and CAD into new product lines and technology is a rewarding opportunity.”

Over his almost 30-year career Robertson, a Purdue University graduate, has concentrated on engineering, product development, and safety. His achievements have included Freedom Innovations’ Kinnex microprocessor ankle qualifying as a 2017 Medical Device Excellence Award finalist, developing and commercializing the world’s only Subcutaneous Implantable Cardiac Defibrillator at Cameron Health/Boston Scientific, and achieving Six Sigma Green Belt certification.
